I can't debug my birt report! [message #508430] Mon, 18 January 2010 18:16 Go to next message

Hi,

I'm new with birt. I'have followed all tutorials that I've found and now
I'm trying to develop my report, but it's very difficult for me to do it
because I can't use the debug mode. When I launch the debug mode,
eclipse doesn't open the debug perspective and doesn't stop in the
breakpoints.

I'm working with scripted datasources and I've tried with both
javascript event handlers and java event handlers.

Any idea?

Thank you in advance.

Any idea?

Rodrigo,

Can you select the debug perspective and click on the report icon and
create a new report debug configuration? It should automatically choose
your report to debug. Make sure the JavaScript radial is selected.

Rodrigo,

I assume you have breakpoints set in the script?
This video shows 2.3 features as well as the debugger.

Hi,

Yes, I have watched the video, and yes, I'm trying 2.5.1.

I'm using eclipse rcp galileo with birt 2.5.1 for linux gtk x86_64, and
I have also tried with the birt distribution.

is that a possible bug or am I doing something wrong? I'll ask to some
mate to try it to see if he has the same problem.

I have downloaded the birt report samples from the cvs to check if I
have the same problem.

I'll let you know if I have news

thanks

Hi Jason,

One of my mates has tried to debug a sample report with scripting
datasource having the same result as me. The debugger doesn't stop at
breakpoints.

Both we have eclipse galileo rcp sr1 for ubuntu gtk x86_64

We have downloaded the plugin
org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.samplereports and I have tried with
ScriptedDatasourceExampleAfter.rptdesign

Rodrigo,

Can you try with a beforeFactory script? I am wondering if it is an
issue with scripted datasources.

Hi Jason,

You're right, it seems an issue with scripted datasources, the debugger
stops at breakpoints in report event scripts like initialize and

Rodrigo,

I just checked 2.5.1 and the problem is there as well.
I also found a bug already logged for it:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=247938

You may want to implement it in Java if you want to debug it.
