This is one reason why I like the Emacs+ plugin so much. Besides the fact that it adds lots of additional useful text manipulation and navigation functions, it also adds the "apropos" command, where I can enter "forward" (assuming I realized that that would be an important part of the command to do this), and it will list all the commands with "forward" as part of the command name, which will also show whether those commands are bound to keys already.
Note that I only use the "functions" part of Emacs+, I don't use the Emacs+ key bindings, even though I'm a long-time Emacs user. I simply integrate the pieces of it that I like, binding functions to available key sequences (ctrl-semicolon is very nice as a prefix key) that are convenient for me.
