cross bookmarks or project location hyperlinks [message #499193] Fri, 20 November 2009 06:23

I know about hyperlinks associated to bug sheets with Mylin.

What I need however is a sort of hyperlinking or cross bookmarking that allows me to quickly jump to a specific source location of another project in the same workspace (which is not covered by the F3/show declaration function). This target location may e.g. be responsible for processing some data that is created by the other project and e.g. transferred over a communication channel to the other project (of course in the runtime situation).

Two implementation options seem realistic:
1) bookmarks - each bookmark may be linked to another bookmark, and thus intrinsically provide a cross referencing in both directions.
2) conventional bookmarking using special comment format

I think that extending bookmarks is most convenient. One could activate an annotate step on a new bookmark and have the coupling done while subsequently creating the second bookmark. Bookmarks with active references could be represented using another bookmark colour in the text margin.

I'd like to share this idea before posting an enhancement into bugzilla.
