Replying also to eclipse.modeling.gmf
You'll need to install XSD from the EMF project, which will then give you
the option of creating an *.ecore/*.genmodel from any *.xsd file. In other
words, it's an EMF feature, not GMF.

Try File -> New -> Other... -> Eclipse Modeling Framework -> EMF Model ->
....
Select the XML Schema importer and your *.xsd file. From it, an *.ecore
file will be created, along with a *.genmodel. If you don't see this
importer, you don't have XSD installed.
