Hi all,

Is there a way to get the Ecore definition from a RDB Schema definition?

Thanks and regards.

Alvaro,

I don't know of such a mapper. Teneo provides allows you to access
database-backed data using Hibernate or JPA/EclipseLink, but it doesn't
automatically generate the Ecore from the data base schema.

Alvaro,
Ed is right, currently there is no support for this. Although it has been discussed as a new feature in the beginning of
the year. A related topic is to create an ecore model from a hibernate mapping.
I am looking for help in this area (rdb --> ecore mapping) so if you have time/interest to contribute here (together
with me) then let me know.

There is an example in the "Eclipse Modeling Project" book, Chapter 13, Section 8, on how to use QVT OML (M2M) to transform Simple UML to RDBMS. It might be worth a look.

Great Alvaro,

I will open a bugzilla and we can start from there to use that as a discussion base. There is someone who wanted to
contribute some code for rdb --> ecore in February/March. Although we couldn't get the code to be contributed it is for
sure helpfull if we can get his input on this topic. You will see an email from me one of the coming days with a
proposal for next steps.

Thanks!
