I am running eclipse Galileo on windows vista with sun java 1.6.0_16 jre.

I have used eclipse for years for my java development so I thought it would be a good bet for my recent php projects.

When I install from eclipse-java-galileo-SR1-win32, I can see that all the PDT tools are installed, but I don't see a PHP perspective. No PHP project option innew / other / projects either.

When I install from eclipse-php-galileo-SR1-win32, all the PHP tools are available, but ant doesn't work.

This is driving me nuts. I done a LOT of googling but nothing has helped.

I would like to either install PDT to my existing java/eclipse environment (best) or install php/eclipse and get ant working (acceptable).

Thanks in advance.

As for PHP and PDT I would recommend you go for eclipse 3.3 and PDT 1.03
if you need a stable professional workhorse. I have just yesterday tried
PDT 2.1 on eclipse 3.5 which is much better then PDT 2.0 but still has
too slow code completion for everyday 7 hours a day work. Having
multiple versions of eclipse is no pain at all, just version your
eclipse dir and workspace dir.

Yes, for some reason the PHP distribution is missing some of the Ant plugins. Better to download the Java distribution, and install PDT from the update site. Choose Install New Sotfware, select the Galileo update site, and install Programming Languages > PHP Development Tools (PDT) SDK Feature.
