When I view the output columns of an dataset, the 'type' doesn't change.
Is this normal? Should that be able to be manipulated, or is it read-only
and based on the input data source? Any info appreciated...

Mark,

Not sure if you are referring to the Data/sample content in output view or
Data Extract/load feature. Could you send me a screen shot?
