app from the java command line (java -jar plugins/*launcher*jar) instead
of the launcher, the problem does not occur. Also, the problem does not
occur when launching from the workspace.

There is reason to suspect a heap problem, but nothing is written to the
log and a heapdump is not not generated.

I play with the maximum heap value in eclipse.ini, but it has no effect.
The memory size always stays the same, surprisingly.

Is there a fundamental difference in how the app runs when it is
launched from the launcher.exe ?
