Adding additional non-UML informations [message #475139] |

Hello,
I would want to add additional information such as: author,
software's name, version, etc to the serialized model (XMI).
I don't want to create a Comment or some UML element with such content in
the model.
I sow that I can add EAnnotations to elements, is this appropriate for this
kind of information and how much is affected by this the XMI standard.
I would want a method that will be trouble free for other tools reading
my serialized model.

Vlad,
Yes, I no longer work for IBM; I now work for Embarcadero Technologies.
There are currently two committers on the UML2 component of MDT - myself and
James Bruck. Now that James is a committer, he will be (and has been)
handling much of the day to day development of UML2 while I focus more on
leadership of the MDT project. Don't worry, we are still committed to
development of UML2 and evolution of the UML standard. Of course, as always,
contributions from the community are most welcome!

Hi Ken,

Yes, I read that article. If some UML tool doesn't
have my profile, it will just ignore the additional information? I sow
that with UML2 Tools when the profile is missing a problem is shown
that the profile resource is missing.
Is this the only solution?
Thanks,
Bogdan

Bogdan,
It sounds like profile/stereotypes will meet your needs. Have you read the
'Introduction to UML Profiles' article available on the documentation page?

Hi Kenn,
Your email seems to have changed ?
Are you still working for IBM ?
Did IBM has bought Embarcadero ?
Something else ?
I think it is important to know more about your future life, because you
were the founder of the UML2 newsgroup in the Eclipse community.
Who is still working on the UML 2.1 metamodel project ?
Thanks for your report
