I cannot answer for James, but I too have this problem.
It doesn't matter if I use "CTRL-N" or "right-click, New, Other". I get
the same dialog and I cannot find a "UML 2.1 Diagrams" option. The
closest is "UML Model" under "Example EMF Model Creation Wizards", but
subsequent dialogs don't match thoose the Lars Vogel's tutorial.
I started with the "Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers" download (today, 4th
April 2008) and then added the UML2 Tools and its dependencies.
Thus I have:
Eclipse Platform Version: 3.3.2
UML2 Tools Version: 0.7.101

I just spotted that Lars recommends downloading the whole of the "Models
and Model Development" hierarchy. I tried at suddenly I get the "UML 2.1
Diagrams" option just where it should be. I guess the wizard is defined
in one of the other plugins.

Hi Warren,
I guess, you used update site to install UML2Tools, didn't you? Sometimes
conflicts of plugin versions appears when using update site. Using zips (from
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/downloads/?project=uml2t ools) usually
helps to install UML2Tools properly.
Did it help you?
Best wishes,
Tanya.
