Is there a way to change the selection color for rows in the table and
tree widgets?

Would there be any known work-arround ? (like painting on screen or
something ?)

Currently there is no supported workaround. Painting on a widget other than
Canvas or Composite is a bad idea because on some platforms the OS draws
outside of the Paint event and you will get cheese.
