eclipse update resulting configuration does not contain the platform [message #464692] Tue, 13 March 2007 16:28 Go to next message

Hi all:

I got a "Resulting configuration does not contain the platform" when
installing a new feature to my RCP using "Help->Software Update->Find and
Install->Search for new features to install" from local update site (the
directory of the Update Site Project root in my eclipse workspace).

My feature includes a simple plugin, which provides a few simple newWizard
extensions to create different type of XML files. I tried to add
"org.eclipse.platform" feature to the dependencies of the my feature.xml
file. It does not help.

Some people mentioned "You must export each plugin as deployable feature
instead of an individual plugin." But I do not understand what that means
and whether that applied in my case.

Your help is deeply appreciated.

Thanks,
Chang

Check this:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/RCP_FAQ#My_own_RCP_plug-in s_are_contributed_by_a_feature._Why_is_the_update_manager_co mplaining_that_my_configuration_is_invalid.3F

you have to create a feature for the RCP plugin OR include all RCP plugin to
your feature

I think the problem is not your new feature but the feature list of your
initial RCP deployment
