Hello all,
First off, this goes as a warning to anyone who implements SWT_AWT: Your
application will not work now and might never work on OSX. I mention this
only because I see a lot of advice in recent threads concerning embedding
Swing/AWT components inside SWT, each of which does not carry such a
warning.
As a suggestion on how to make this more obvious, perhaps it would make
sense to leave the SWT_AWT class under the internal win32.*, gtk.* package
hierarchies. This would make it much harder for people to shoot themselves
in the foot in the event that they aren't able to test on all platforms and
might not assume that they will not be able to run their application on OSX
for the forseeable future.
At the absolute least it should be provided as a note at the top of the
JavaDoc for org.eclipse.swt.awt.SWT_AWT class.
