Is there a special version of the JDK necessary?

My reason for asking is this:
When linking the SWT AWT DLL, I get a linker error:
swt_awt.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _imp_JAWT_GetAWT
referenced in function Java_org_eclipse_swt_awt_SWT_1AWT_getAWTHandle

I am using the Windows Platfrom SDK from April 2005 and JDK 1.5.0_04.

Has anybody attempted to create the makefile for AMD64, and not
submitted it as a patch to the relevant bug in bugzilla, and would like
to share at this time?
