IBM has announced its support of Intel's new Itanium 2 processor and
revealed plans to later this year introduce an IBM xSeries system with
Itanium 2 processors.

IBM software -- such as WebSphere and DB2 -- also will support the Itanium
2 processor.

Does this implies there is a 64 bit version of Eclipse up and runing on 64
bit worlds? If so where can I get it.

I don't think there's a 64 bit version of any java application because they
fixed the size of all primitive data types - hopefully this does not create
a severe performance problem when upgrading to a double-wide. Just install
the SDK for 64-bit Intel machines and you are good to go with any java
application including Eclipse. Scroll down to the 64 bit install of your
choice (e.g., Itanium Windows)

I have already tried it on 64 bit Windows and it worked fine but real slow
on start up. I am more interest on Linux-64. The Java sdk seems to work
on Linux-64 (Redhat), but failed when I try Eclipse. Have anyone else try
it on Linux-64?
