How to show unprintable symbols (Space, CR/LF, TAB) within StyledText [message #454583]

We need to show unprintable symbols (Space, CR/LF, TAB) within editor. It
should be shown as '.' for space, 'P' for CR/LF, '->' for TAB etc. How to
do that properly?
