Package Explorer Pane does not refresh [message #45789] Tue, 11 February 2003 23:23 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
I am running Eclipse build 200302061700. on Windows 2000. When I upgraded
to this release, I unzipped the download, and then copied my workspace file
to the default directory.

My problem is that when I add a new java project, or add a new package to an
existing project, the project / package is not shown in the Package Explorer
Pane until I shutdown eclipse and restart it.

Is this Eclipse' problem or my problem?

Also, I noticed a post that suggested that it is a bad plan to have your
workspace directory under your eclipse directory. How does one go about
having the workspace in a separate directory?

Thanks much.

I am having a similar problem. I am using the 2.1 M5 build.

My package explorer does not synchronize with the editor view ie. selecting
another file in the editor does not move focus in the package explorer. It
worked fine in the 2.1 M4 build.

Is it a setting that I have overlooked or should I file bug?

What do you mean by "not shown" (not selected or not there)?
If it is not there then you might have enabled a filter which hides the
element. If this isn't the case then please file a bug report with steps
to reproduce against JDT UI.

I mean that the new project is not visible in the Package Explorer Pane
until I restart Eclipse. Similarly, if I delete a project, it remains
visible until Eclipse is restarted.
I checked and enabled/disabled filters to see if that made a difference; it
didn't.

so I am off to file a bug report.

Thanks much.

Just to follow up on this for any later parties searching the newsgroup...I
believe my workspace was corrupt -- I reinstalled Eclipse and imported the
projects again, and now everything works fine.
