Hello,

I would like to know how I can use the SWT to create an
opengl to work with Java3D on it. I found several tutorials
for AWT/Swing but that's not what I want.

This is probably not what you want, but there is an (experimental) OpenGL
plug-in for SWT. You can reach it from
http://www.eclipse-plugins.info/eclipse/plugin_details.jsp?i d=562. Go to
plug-in homepage to download it. Unfortunately, it works much better under
Windows and Motif than under Linux.

You may also wisth to contact the http://lwjgl.org/ people.

Their stuff is also lower level (an OpenGL binding), but it supports GL >
1.1 and runs on Win32/Mac/Linux.
And as far as I remember, there was an effort
(http://www.realityinteractive.com/software/oss/) to make the thing
compatible with SWT (i.e. to draw with LWJGL on SWT widgets).

Also, Xith3D, which is a Java3Dish scenegraph now runs on LWJGL..
This (http://www.javagaming.org/cgi-bin/JGNetForums/YaBB.cgi) is pretty
interesting too. I dare say this is the place for client-side Java (2D or
3D).

Ivan
