I began a project using SWT. When I needed to begin to rotate images in
the project, I found myself switching back to Swing to be able to use
Java2D, since the mixture of SWT and AWT (for the Java2D Stuff) did not
work correctly on OSX. Is there an equivalent for Java2D in SWT in
which I can rotate images and draw directly to a canvas?

Have you seen the following snippet:

http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/org.eclipse.swt.sni ppets/src/org/eclipse/swt/snippets/Snippet139.java?rev=HEAD& amp;content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

Also, there is org.eclipse.draw2d:
