Hi.
Does anyone have info when M7 releases of EMF Query1.3, Validation1.3,
and Transaction1.3 will be available?

Is it advisable to use the M6 releases with all the surrounding M7
releases, or should we wait?

Regards,
Philipp

Philipp,

I think everyone has done their M7 builds but I'm not sure the Galileo
site has all the M7 ready...

I try to fetch stuff from:

http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/downloads/?project=emf

and there is only M6 for the mentioned components.

Is there a better place?

Regards, Philipp

You may check the full modeling package from:

http://www.eclipse.org/epp/download.php

The official M7 should be available in a day or so.

Dear Ersin.
Thanks for the information. Waiting a day or even three is no problem.

Regards, and thanks for all the great work,
Philipp

Hi, Philipp,

There will not be M7 builds of these components, AFAIK. The former
committer team on these components resigned at M6 (the last thing I did
was to get that milestone build out) and there isn't a new committer
team, yet. Thus, there has been no development in these components
since M6.

Cheers,

Christian

Dear Christian.
Thanks for the replay. I will try with M6, and report the experiences here.

Would a M7 release not mean a release compiled against the M7 releases
of all used packages, and thus be completly independent of the question
whether there was something newly developed or not?

If, what I write above is correct:
As I have now an Eclipse comitter in my company (Quentin Glineur, he
started to work 1.Mai), could he checkout the sources, and compile the
M7 release for you?

Please let us know, if we can help with this.

Regards, Philipp

Philipp,

We're rounding up new committers for these components. See the PMC
mailing list if you or anyone else is interested. I need to get my act
in gear with a proposed list for each...

Hi, Philipp,

Not having login access to Eclipse.org, there would be nothing that I
can do to help. I agree that it is best to at least compile and run
JUnits on the latest milestone (M7 in this case) of dependencies, but
since M6 was the API freeze, and the dependencies in question have very
good track records of stability, I wouldn't be concerned.

In any case, I'm confident that the PMC will have the new committer team
in place in time to produce the RC builds in the ramp-down to the
Galileo release. These components are too important to fall through the
cracks. :-)

Cheers,

Christian

Hi, Christian.
Thanks for the answer.

In the meantime I tested with the M6 releases, and everything works fine.

All the best, Philipp

Hi, Ed.
We are in the process of transforming our company from an IT company to
a Business Modeling company, and thus I would prefer to create for you
new users, and to submit bugreports for usecases which have not been
tested up to now.

But in the worst case, we would stop our plans and help ;-)

I assume/hope, this will not happen.

All the best, Philipp
