CVS: Authentication Error [message #42597] Mon, 28 March 2005 23:36 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi

I am giving the following setup in the Add Repository in Eclipse.

hostname: 127.0.0.1 - Is this the right way
Rep, path: /cvsrep
User: currently logged in User - Jaspreet
Password: I have no password on my XP Home user 'Jaspreet', so I leave it
blank
Connection type: pserver
Default Port

When I press validate, a prompt appears saying Password Required,
Authentication Error, Incorrect Username or Password. Is there any error
above?
I dont have any password on my Windows XP Home account 'Jaspreet', that I am
currently logged in. Am I specifying the username incorrectly.

Or is there any error in the CVS control panel setup?
In the CVSNT control panel, I've specified Run As User as Jaspreet, and
Default Domain Name as MYLAPTOP. How should I provide this information in
Eclipse repository so that I stop getting the authentication error?

Thanks,
Jaspreet

Check the CVSNT docs for how to integrate it with the Windows
authentication scheme (as far as I remember, it is not the
default setup); otherwise you will have a separate
authentication, names/passwords, for CVSNT.

Try to login to CVSNT from the command line - if that works,
then blame Eclipse.
