Run-time Workbench instance [message #42262] Mon, 28 March 2005 15:20 Go to next message

Hi all,

I am trying to use the plug-in tutorials from ECESIS step by
step with Eclipse 3.0.

In one of the slides it says:

There are two different instances of Workbench that can run:
* Host, the instance used for developing plug-ins
* Run-time, the instance used for running, i.e. testing
developed plug-ins
Run-time Workbench instance is launched from the host instance
* It will contain all plug-ins of the host instance as well as
the ones just developed in the host instance
* It is launched by choosing: Window -> New Window

Now, I am trying to launch a "Run-time Workbench instance" by
using Window -> New Window and I am getting an exact clone of
the host instance (i.e., the plug-in that I am working on is not
there) - any suggestion?

Thanks a lot for your time,
Adrian.

Window -> New Window just opens a new window. It has nothing to do with
the idea of a "Runtime Workbench". To launch a Runtime Workbench, open
the launch configuration dialog (click "Run..." or "Debug..."), select
"Runtime Workbench", and click "New". Then click Run or Debug to launch it.

Thanks Jared.
