Eclipse eclipsed my "stay on top" windows? [message #411624] Tue, 20 January 2004 04:12 Go to next message

I don't know if this is an SWT issue or not. My Windows 2000 environment
has a few regular "stay on top" windows, including Attache Clock, the MCL
command line, and a Google search box. When I open Eclipse, these things
go away and I have to jump through hoops to get them back. Does anyone
know if this is an SWT issue? If so (or if not) is there a simple
workaround? Thanks.

P.S. Email notification (to Barry@Burd.org) that you've replied to this
posting would be handy for me.

Can you make it happen with the SWT ControlExample?

I have this happen too. It is hard to reproduce, as it seems to happen
sporadically. I have also had this happen on other swt applications
(Azereus), and maybe one that wasn't swt. This is on 2000 and xp, with
WSAD5(based on eclipse 2.1-ish) and eclipse 3.

Basically, if I click on the hidden but "on top" set window (like
winamp) with eclipse not maximized, then maximize eclipse, it will go
back to normal, with winamp being on top.

Also I have more than one "on-top" apps, and it affects them separately,
that is, one will go below and the other one will stay, or both will go.
Doesn't seem to have a pattern.

Well, not until you mentioned it. :)

Looks like an open bug. Should I post an update to it? (like still
there on xp and 3.0 and 3.1)

Also, I've seen a few postings on people chalking it up to a windows
bug, and I'm sure it ultimately is, but happens rarely in any other
"native" application and very frequently on swt based java programs.

It appears that I have resurrected an old thread. Looks like I read
that date wrong (2004, this is 2005)
