Progress DB Connectivity [message #41337] Thu, 26 May 2005 13:39 Go to next message

When connecting to a Progress 9.1D DB I get some unusual behavior from the
data set editor.

First the Items Available window does not show any of the tables. The DB
symbol appears but there is no '+' icon next to it.

Next, after writing a valid query and going to the Preview Results window
I get the following error, but only after the column headers are populated
(correctly),

org.eclipse.birt.data.engine.core.DataException occurred
Error Code:DATA_EXCEPTION_odaconsumer.CannotFetchNextRow
Error Code:DATA_EXCEPTION_odaconsumer.CannotFetchNextRow
Error Message:Cannot fetch the next data row.
A JDBC Exception occured: [JDBC Progress Driver]:Cursor not opened (7511)
[JDBC Progress Driver]:Cursor not opened (7511)

Note I use this same driver for SQLExplorer and am able to query the
Progress dB normally.

Thanks,

b5

OK, I just went back to Eclipse and closed the Data Set editor and Eclipse
exited spontaneously with a JVM = 1 error. I didn't get the full message
because I thought it would be captured in the error log, which it was not.

Barry,
It will be helpeful if you can open a Bugzilla bug for the problem you are
experiencing. A few pieces of information will help get the investigation
off the ground:
(1) What BIRT build are you using?
(2) Which version of Progress JDBC driver is used? How can we obtain a
copy of this driver?
(3) When you create the data source using this driver, did the "Test
Connection" button work from the data source editor?
(4) Can you attached a copy of the report design that failed?

thanks,
