As many of you here already know there is a plan [1] to introduce html
widget in eclipse platform past 2.2 release.
I started using eclipse only a few weeks ago and a component that caught my
attention was html-like widgetry(forms, buttons, dropdown menus) in PDE
editor. If you are not familiar with PDE editor turn on PDE plugin view by
selecting Window->Show View->Other->PDE->Plug-ins and then double-click
plugin.xml in any plugin (org.eclipse.jdt.ui for example). Plugin metadata
opens up in an editor view. Here you can view all these html-like
components.
Below is the excerpt from a discussion with Nick Edgar on a platform-ui-dev
list directing further discussion to this forum. I would very much like to
see all these components "opened up" in a public API and included in eclipse
release ASAP. What are your opinions, comments and concerns?
Best regards,
Vladimir
