The AJDT team are pleased to announce availability of our 1.1.12
release which, like 1.1.11 before it, runs on Eclipse 3.0 (final).

Please see the 'New and Noteworthy' page for this release, accessible
directly from the AJDT homepage at:
http://eclipse.org/ajdt

Highlights of the release include:
- Per-project properties pages for AspectJ compiler options
- Related location context menu entries for declare errors/warnings, and
also for certain compiler error messages
- New wizard for exporting AspectJ-enabled plugins
- Java code completion behaves the same in .aj files as .java files
- Advice gutter annotations are shown for aspects in JAR files
- A number of bugs have been fixed since 1.1.11
See the 'New and Noteworthy' page for further details.

AJDT 1.1.12 is available from the same update site as the previous
release:
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/ajdt/30/update

or downloadable as a set of plugins for offline installation from:

http://download.eclipse.org/technology/ajdt/30/update/ajdt_1 .1.12_archive.zip

See our homepage and download page for more information.

http://eclipse.org/ajdt

Thanks,

Matt + the rest of the AJDT team.

I am trying now since two days to update to the new AJDT version using
the http://download.eclipse.org/technology/ajdt/30/update site, but
each and every time the connection is first properly set up and things
start to be downloaded at reasonable speed at first but then the
download gets slower and slooower and slooooweeeerr and finally times
out with the following message:

Unable to complete action for feature "Eclipse AspectJ Development
Tools" due to errors.
Unable to retrieve remote reference
" http://download.eclipse.org/technology/ajdt/30/update/plugin s/org.asp
ectj.ajde_1.2.0.jar". [Connection timed out: connect]

Is there something missing or is the server just overloaded (24 hours
per day?). Am I the only one having this problem?

Michael :-(

Hi Michael,

I'm very sorry to hear you're having difficulties getting hold of AJDT.
Have you tried the zip file version instead to see if that's any
different? Unfortunately the Eclipse projects are not mirrored like the
base Eclipse. It would indeed be very helpful to hear if anyone else has
been having problems, so that we can ask the webmaster about this.

Regards,

Matt.

I am in fact trying this since I gave up for the time being on the
automatic update but, alas, I am seeing very similar behaviour (now
already for the second time):

The download starts - at the beginning it gives the optimistic
prognosis: "Estimated time left: 18 minutes...", but then again things
start to slow down and the download right now is e.g. creeping along
at about 1/3 of the file and currently it says: "Estimated time left:
1h 7min ..." and is counting up... :-(

The first attempt at some point then stalled with a timeout. I'm
afraid this second attempt won't yield any better result...

Sigh, maybe I'll have to give it a try at 3:00 am?

I assume you're doing this from inside the IBM network? The connectivity
should be good from your location. I just tried it from here, and it did
complete, but it was rather slow, averaging about 12K/s.

I notice some other projects actually have their downloads hosted on the
CVS server. I will ask the webmaster about this. As an experiment, I've
tried putting the 1.1.12 zip file in CVS, so see if that's any better. The
URL is:

http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/indextech.cgi/~checkout~/org. eclipse.ajdt/ajdt_1.1.12_archive.zip

and the file is 13129061 bytes.

Let me know if you still have problems and I can email you the zip file
directly.

Regards,

Matt.

Yes, but strange enough it wasn't very good, either. Esp. this strange
slow down or throttling effect (i.e. repeatedly good speed at start
and then ever decreasing speed during the download) puzzles me!
