If I install Eclipse will I be able to write console(non-GUI) programs in
Java? Will I be able to both write my code in the code window and then
click the Run or Compile button to run my program within the IDE? I've had
lots of problems with Java compilers. Some I can't get to work, and most
are too complicated.

Yes, the output of running your program will be shown in the Console
view within Eclipse. That view also allows input to running programs
via Standard Input. Eclipse will automatically compile your Java files
every time you save your source.

Hope this helps,

Thanks. I'll download and install it and try it. Sorry for posting my
message again, but when I originally looked for it I couldn't find it.
