Hi !

I'm new to C/C++ and decided to learn it using the Eclipse IDE as I already
use it for Java and because I really want to know what I'm doing (else I
would have chosen Borlands C++ Builder...).

Well, I've installed the CDT and Cygwin (I'm using Win XP) but I don't know
where to start. I believe it would be of great help if somebody could send
me a smal sample project (a hello world project would do it :) ).

Is there any documentation on the CDT ? Couldn't find anything on Eclipses
help.

Also, I've read some old posts about using Borlands free C++ compiler and
I'm wondering why I schould want to do that ? Is there anything the Borland
compiler can do that GCC can't ?

At last, Cygwin ships with GCC version 2.95.xxxxx, a friend of mine has a
compiled (Cygwin) version of GCC 3.1 (for C/C++) is there any reason to use
it instead of the version I have ?

That's it for now and thanks to everybody envolved in developing/supporting
the best IDE on earth :)

hmm on my Eclipse install I have a quite good help for CDT which explains how
it works. There is an own chapter for CDT.
