I have followed the direction to install eclipse on Linux.

I have extracted the eclipse package, installed both sun jdk and jre. When I
start eclipse I have typed -vm <the path to my javac file>

But I still cannot make it work!

I have also edited my etc/profile document to point to jdk directory.

Does somebody know a document that has some good directions for make eclipse
work on Linux?? I have Ubuntu linux.

Eclipse 3.0 will run with jdk 1.5, it just won't be able to compile 1.5
level code. When specifiying the -vm argument point to the java file,
not the javac. It's looking for the Java runtime, not the compiler.

I've no problem installing the eclipse 3.1 on my Debian, but it was with
the vm v1.4.2 which you can grab here :
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

I've downloaded the JRE. The JDK must provide more libraries.
