[PRIVACY] - Treatment of Privacy Policy Complaints [message #3202]

Ilias -

I understand your concerns. However, I do think that appropriate notice of
the legal documentation updates was posted on http://www.eclipse.org at the
time that the changes were originally made. See the September 8, 2004 entry
under the "What's New" banner.

Was this notice insufficient for some reason?

One thing might be useful in the notice. What changed? It's hard to tell
without reading the whole thing, and if its been awhile since you read
the old one you have to read it all and determine if it still meets your
privacy concerns. Parsing it all out to determine this is
time-consuming and error-prone. Changes to things like privacy should be
spelled out and not buried in the text.

After 2 weeks of seeing eclipse.org essentially ignoring this case, I start to loose my patience.

It becomes more and more _unbelievable_ to me, how the Eclipse Foundation treats my complaint.

We are talking here about the Eclipse Foundation, with members like...

*IBM*, *HP*, *Intel*, *Ericson*, *SAP*, *QNX*, ...!

Personally to me, the behaviour of the Foundation reflects directly to its members.

I really don't believe all this!

Still no comment from the _responsible_ persons!

This is _inacceptable_ !

I expect at _minimum_ the following information:

- when : [covered: 2004-09-10]
- who : has made the change.
- why : (rationales/justifications for changing the privacy policy)
- what : a clearly visible difference-report of the document

I apologize for the delay in responding to this one.

The change made to the Privacy Policy was totally non-functional and only
involved changing in the first paragraph, "Eclipse.org" to "the Eclipse
Foundation".

I hope this helps explain what happened.
