Hi,
I'm using Mac osx 10.3.4 Eclipse 3.0, IBM web tools contrib. After
creating a webproject and creating a
simple class in the JavaSource folder, i get the following problems:

Severity Description Resource In Folder Location Creation Time
2 The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot
find the class file for
java.lang.Object. Fix the build path then try building this project
TestWebProject July 29, 2004 3:19:57 PM

Severity Description Resource In Folder Location Creation Time
2 The type java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. It is indirectly
referenced from required .class files
TestVor.java TestWebProject/JavaSource line 1 July 29, 2004 3:19:57 PM

It doesn't matter how simple the class is the error persists.
is there a workaround?

Thanks,
Tony

This happened to me. For some reason, the default JDK was not added to
the Java Build path. Just go into the project properties, the Java Build
Path, then the Libraries tab. You'll see that the JDK is not listed or
it will say that the JDK was not found. Click on the button for Add
Library and select 'JRE System Library,' then pick your JDK.

Hi guys,

This is probably a minor bug, but I don't have access to a Mac to test on.
If one of you can answer some questions and help work through this, we
should be able to fix it or find a workaround.

Which runtime (server) were you targetting when you created the Web project?
(Tomcat, or the J2EE Runtime Library?) Also, if you open up the .classpath
file directly after creating the project, what entries are there?

Hi Tim,

Did anyone ever respond. I'm on a mac and I targeted JBoss 3.2.x.

The J2SE was set to 'default' but not picking up the library properly.
If I explicitly set it to JDK 1.4.2 it worked fine as far as the
'java.lang.Object not found' problems.

When I created a new project from scratch I don't know what was in the
..classpath file but from the GUI it said 'default jdk'. I'd be glad to
create a new project and email the .classpath file to you if it would help.

Thanks!

I also have a Mac will be more than happy test this out, if you need
another test. I just finish installing WTP last night. I haven't had the
chance to play with on my PowerBook.

Hi Bill, Jeff,

No, nobody has replied. If one of you have just do that quick test after
seeing the error, it would be helpful. Bugzilla is setup for WTP, so you can
just enter the details there.
