Refactoring Method Inline got worse recently [message #1871580] Mon, 30 September 2024 07:55 Go to next message

Recently change was done and eclipse is refusing to inline method if there are private fields or private methods accessed from the method being inlined.
I have been using method inlining for more then a decade and this recent change really made this feature significantly worse.

Not sure what prompted the change. I personally can not see how that can be considered an improvement. What would it take to get old inlining back?

To revert to the previous inlining behavior in Eclipse, you might need to adjust your settings or switch to an earlier version of the IDE where this feature worked as expected. You can also check the Eclipse bug tracker or forums to see if there are any discussions or proposed fixes regarding this change. If the community considers it an issue, they might release a patch or update.
