Questions about the migration from GMF to Sirius diagrams? [message #1861012] Thu, 14 September 2023 07:40 Go to next message

I have noticed that there is an ongoing initiative to replace the usage of the GMF framework as a base for Papyrus diagrams with Sirius equivalent diagram framework:
https://www.eclipsecon.org/2023/sessions/great-eclipse-papyrus-migration-gmf-and-xwt-sirius-and-eef

I have a number of questions regarding this effort that I would be happy if anyone can answer:

  • Is there a plan when this migration will be officially released?
  • Will GMF-based diagrams still be supported in future releases of Papyrus, or which will be the final Papyrus version supporting GMF-based diagrams?
  • Will there be any migration tooling to automatically migrate existing GMF-based diagrams to Sirius diagrams in user models?
  • Will there be any kind of support (tooling and/or guidelines) to migrate user-specific plugins currently dependent on the GMF-framework?

Hi Thomas,
We plan to release an update site about papyrus diagram based on Sirius for the end of the year 2023.
For us this version is alpha. We will need to update code in order to ensure iso-functionality.
We would like to provide a beta version for mid 2024.
Then we plan a migration period 6 mounths at least. for this period we plan to provide a migration tool for diagrams.
