Where to ask questions about the XML Editor? [message #1859863] Sat, 01 July 2023 18:21 Go to next message

Hello!

I used Eclipse many years ago on an embedded project and never touched it again, until I learned that it is supposed to have a good XML editor. So I installed it anew and have some questions about the whole XML editing stuff.

But somehow, this XML Editor seems to be a ghost at the Eclipse foundation. When I look in the project list, it's not there, and there is no documentation about it on the documentation page.

So, where can I ask about issues with the XML Editor?

If it identifies as the XML Editor, it's one of many XML-related features from the Web Tools Platform, and its forum is a place to discuss it.

Well, it is the XML editor that I needed to download as "Eclipse XLM Editors and Tools". If that belongs to the Web Tools Platform, then I'm fine.

Typo aside, that's the one. You can open XML files in the Generic Text Editor, but you'll need other plug-ins installed to support the language there.

I get what you mean, Eclipse can be a maze sometimes. For XML Editor, it's not a standalone project. You'll find it under "Web Tools Platform" when installing. Try there!
