failure to launch debian package (javafx) [message #1859411] Mon, 05 June 2023 16:06 Go to next message

I have recently upgraded 2 large, legacy javafx projects from j-8 to modular j-17 (temurin) in Intellij with Gradle/Groovy, using jpackage to create debian packages.
Both build and run without errors in Intellij. The gradle.builds are practically identical. Both will install using linux installer without complaint, and again, the installations look identical. Both have identical launchers, but only one of the two actually launches. The other neither launches, nor complains.

What debugging strategy could I use, to get some relevant diagnostic information?

I have attached the startup codes for comparison (see attached)

Where are Eclipse and its Java tools in all this?

I was under the impression that the Eclipse Foundation is also responsible for temurin, and as such the Forum also applies to temurin issues.

Only a few people look at questions here to answer them. I highly doubt anyone working on Temurin will look here at your question, but if there's something related to Temurin, you could has here:

At this point though, it's not at all clear what is failing, how it's failing, and why there isn't sufficient information to understand the cause of the failure.
