Papyrus does not give an option to select SysML as a modeling language on a new project [message #1858787] Fri, 21 April 2023 16:05 Go to next message

index.php/fa/43135/0/Hello,
I am a new user of Papyrus trying to evaluate it for our new needs. I just installed it and trying to create a new project. I go File -->New Papyrus Project --->...and I was expecting to see this: index.php/fa/43135/0/ , as per the manual I downloaded from Eclipse site. However, instead, I see that: index.php/fa/43136/0/. No SysML option shows up,..
Am I doing something wrong? Did I install it incorrectly? Please advise and thank you.

Indeed, the "Standard SysML Modeling" viewpoint should be selected as shown below

index.php/fa/43140/0/

Which Papyrus version on what operating system do you use?
Looks to me like a 3.x (aka Oxygen) version on Windows 7.

eventually... I fixed that. You need to install the SysML plugin on top of the Papyrus itself. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

I ran into the same issue. It is not fixed and "Thanks anyway" is not enough. Three screenshots are supplementing this post. For anyone entering the game with Papyrus and wishing to try SysML, it is, to say the least, confusing what is happening right from the start.
The website does not clearly indicate that SysML is not part of the package, neither does the manual/documentation point this fact out. At least this is my finding after quick look into it.
Later, once the approach is taken to install via external addon from Marketplace, which is also not mentioned clearly in documentation, it will actually depreciate UML Developer capabilities! In fact there seems to be a problem after installing/deinstalling from Marketplace, which is even beyond this posting.

If a tool, such as Papyrus, claims that is exactly for MBSE and supporting SysML, then the first thing that should work, IMHO, is SysML. This is simply a user-pov expectation that does not need to be further explained or put into rational terms.

Kind regards

Dear Ludwig,

please install SysML 1.6, for instance via the Marketplace. Version 1.4 is no longer maintained and only compatible with older Eclipse versions (yes, we should document this aspect and the fact that base Papyrus does not include SysML more clearly).

Best

Ansgar

Hello,
Ok done, that worked partially well: uninstall was riddled with loads of warnings and error flags. I killed the folder, started from scratch. After installation of 1.6, the following warnings are showing.
