Suddenly Have No Model in the Explorer? [message #1858220] Thu, 23 March 2023 07:17 Go to next message

Hi all,
I have been working through a relatively large project with Eclipse that utilizes the UAF profile. When I opened Papyrus this morning, my model explorer is empty. The error log lists numerous unexpected errors. I would like to know how to recover my work.
Any help appreciated.

Hi,

please check, if the issue is related to your model, the UAF profile or the Papyrus/Eclipse installation.

What is the size of the .uml and .notation file. There has been a discussion earlier that an exception during save may result in an emptied file (and that we should probably make it more robust, by temporarily renaming the original file).
Can you open other Papyrus models?

If your model file is empty (0 bytes), you can eventually recover an older version from the local history. Try File -> Compare With -> Local History
Please tell us, which Eclipse version you're using.

I believe the issue is connected with the model, not the UAF profile or the Papyrus/Eclipse installation. I can open other models in the project which also use the UAF profile.
None of the files are 0 bytes. They all appear to have appropriate sizes.
I do not have a File -> Compare With menu option.
The version is: Version: 2022-03 (4.23)
Build id: 2022-03-24T13:20:05Z

I do have Timeshift backups of the project which do open. The problem seems to be some sort of corruption in the file(s) themselves. I was just hoping to not lose the data entered in the file.

I forgot to mention, that I'm talking about the context menu, e.g. right click in the project or package explorer, when the file is selected.

Can you also try to open the .uml file with the UML2 tree editor instead of Papyrus? (Open With => UML Model Editor). This will give an indication, if the issue is in the semantic model or in a diagram.

Is it possible to share the model files?

Sorry I didn't get back to you guys. I ended up loading the model from the Timeshift backup. All of the content seemed to be in the files but the models were empty. Not sure what happened to them but I'm back up and running with the model.

Thanks for getting back.

It's not clear for me whether you accidentally reported that they file size was > 0, but they were effectively empty, or if the content seemed empty in the modeler (though the files had a "normal" size).

The files appeared to be the same size but there was no content in modeller.
