Updating Maven Project never completes - Eclipse is hung [message #1857921] Mon, 06 March 2023 14:15 Go to next message

I just upgraded from Eclipse 2022-06 to 2022-12. When I open eclipse and select my existing workspace, it attempts to update one of my many Maven projects. This never completes and makes eclipse essentially unusable. Any other action sits in waiting status for the hung Maven update.

I've actually seen this happen recently. I never got the problem fixed, but I believe I worked around it by closing all projects and opening the projects I need (which can be a challenge, because you have to close all of them very quickly after starting Eclipse, or it will get stuck again). I haven't seen this in a while, but I won't be surprised if it comes up again.

I had filed this issue for the problem: https://github.com/eclipse-m2e/m2e-core/issues/1226 , but as I wasn't able to give them a way to repeat this, they closed it. Feel free to add your own information to the issue.

To keep things moving, I uninstalled 2022-12 and re-installed 2022-06.

There may be a fix for this (for Eclipse 2022-12). Take a look at https://github.com/eclipse-m2e/m2e-core/issues/984. Quite a ways down the comments, there is a reference to a fix that was made (https://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/snapshots/latest/). I applied it to my Eclipse 2022-12 and it seems to have solved the problem.
