Hi
You are presumably aware that Eclipse 2.0.1 was released in August 2002; more than 20 years ago. IIRC the Microsoft Java was good for nothing. J2SE 1.4 was bleeding edge so J2SE 1.3 would seem like the correct choice, all for use on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP.
Until you get it working you need to ensure that EVERYTHING is of a compatible 20 year old vintage. Sadly if some Internet polling happens, the 20 year old URL probably doesn't. Probably best to try working offline.
The Pentium had been available for 10 years when Eclipse 2 was released, so you might hope that an OS emulator on a modern 64/128 bit machine might work; but don't count on it.
Eclipse 2.0 was rapidly replaced by Eclipse 3.0. The *.0.* and *.1.* releases have tended to be a bit preliminary so 2.0.* may well have challenges.
The https://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php?title=The_Official_Eclipse_FAQs history only goes back to 2006. Attached is a ZIP of the faq folder from the 2002 promo CD distributed at the OOPSLA 2002 BoF.
Good luck.
