Eclipse will not start [message #1855528] Wed, 19 October 2022 11:39 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
I have MinGW and Eclipse 4.3.2 for C++ installed along with a Java jdk. Eclipse will not start. What is going wrong? Am I missing a plugin? Is config file incorrect?

First error in log is:
!MESSAGE error loading hook: org.eclipse.osgi.internal.baseadaptor.BaseHookConfigurator
!STACK 0
java.lang.reflect.InaccessibleObjectException: Unable to make protected void java.net.URLClassLoader.addURL(java.net.URL) accessible: module java.base does not "opens java.net" to unnamed module @79698539

2nd error in log is:
!MESSAGE Startup error
!STACK 1
java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "org.eclipse.osgi.internal.baseadaptor.BaseStorage.initialize(org.eclipse.osgi.baseadaptor.BaseAdaptor)" because "this.storage" is null

The whole log file:

Your IDE is from 2014 but your Java version is from 2021. You should update to the current release, 2022-09, and the LTS release of Java: 17.
