Hi,

I've queried the forum about already existing topics, but I didn't found duplicates (neither in NatTableindex.php/fa/42343/0/ nor in RAP index.php/fa/42342/0/).

I not certain about this is a topic for NatTable or for RAP so I will also create a topic under RAP forum?!

My question is: are there plans to support NatTable under RAP? Plained used it is drawn as canvas (we tested with NatTable version 1.6) with all resulting behaviour.

There are currently no concrete plans to support NatTable under RAP. Some years ago someone did a small test and told me that it is not working, but I never got any further hints.

Actually I am not sure what is not working, why it is not working, and what needs to be done to make it work.

"With all resulting behaviour" means:

  • canvas object
    [**] all is drawn
    [**] no text available
    [**] no column/row/cell/.... div-object equivalent
  • event handling with browser servlet interaction
    [**] scrolling
    [**] hovering
    [**] clicking

and serveral more things.

Thanks for your quick response. So currently there are no plans about that. Would it be a NatTable enhancement or an RAP enhancement?

To be honest, I don't know enough about RAP to give a reasonable answer. Typically I would expect that with HTML5 and the HTML Canvas it should be possible to get a NatTable also rendered in a web frontend. But what RAP is actually doing in that case is unclear to me (e.g. why should there be a column/row/cell div-object equivalent?).
So probably the first option would be to ask the RAP team about this. Although they stated in the past that NatTable does not fit well into the RAP architecture. Not sure how they think about this now.

If then something needs to be done in NatTable to add support for RAP, we would need to see what effort that would be and what it would mean.
