Content Assist Broken [message #1847349]

java content assist stopped working. At first it was just java.awt.* that stopped working, but it's getting worse. Now javax.swing.* has stopped working. This was working fine, just stopped yesterday.

environment: ubuntu 20.04 / Gnome 3.36.9 / eclipse 21.09

Tried:

Reboot
apt upgrade / reboot
Eclipse update
Eclipse restart
Create new workspace
delete all .index files
reset editor annotations to default

Picture shows some suggestions, but note how pretty much all are missing, at the minimum JComponent.doLayout() should be there

Have you already checked your Type Filters preference page?

I checked Type Filters and they were set (unset) correctly. However it just started working again. No change, no restart anywhere, just started working again.
