VS Code published mydsl extensions don't work - why? [message #1845065] Tue, 05 October 2021 07:28 Go to next message

I'm trying, again, to get some very basic language server stuff to work with VS Code.

I'm finding the basic examples don't work.

Neither the Xext VS Code example nor the mydsl examples fully work. If I install those extensions through the File->Preferences->Extensions menu I can get basic keyword highlighting, but the language server crashes immediately:

[Info - 9:52:16 PM] Connection to server got closed. Server will restart.
[Info - 9:52:16 PM] Connection to server got closed. Server will restart.
[Info - 9:52:17 PM] Connection to server got closed. Server will restart.
[Info - 9:52:17 PM] Connection to server got closed. Server will restart.
[Error - 9:52:17 PM] Connection to server got closed. Server will not be restarted.

Do these published examples work at all anymore? VS Code version is 1.60.2

Nearly all the articles are from 2016 and summarize with "it works, just download extension this and it's showtime!". But it's been 5 years since then, so I'm sure things have changed.

i have doubts
but there is a branch that may work
https://github.com/itemis/xtext-languageserver-example/tree/cd_226wip

=> you need matching versions of xtext, package.json, lsp4j, ...
