Eclipse IDE for PHP Developers (includes Incubating components)
Version: 2021-06 (4.20.0)
Build id: 20210612-2011

I installed on MacOS and all is working except I don't have any javascript color coding or syntax support inside of php or html files.

I had the same issue on a previous install of 2020-06 on a different machine, but I eventually got that working , I think by installing node.js. So I tried that on this machine and it didn't help. Do I have to do something to point eclipse at my node.js or something? Or is my problem something else?

Thanks for any ideas,

So I tediously compared my old 2020-06 installation and the new 2021-06 installation and discovered the problem. By default, a clean install of 2021-06 for PHP Developers does not install any support for client-side javascript (ie, javascript inside of php or html files). To add it manually, go to Install New Software and set Work with to 2021-06, then expand the Web, XML, Java EE ... section and check the box next to Eclipse Web Javascript Developer Tools. Continue the installation and now you have javascript support. I'm not sure if node.js is needed or not, but I have it installed.

I don't recall having to do this for 2020-06, so maybe it has changed or maybe it was a mistake in the installation routine. Someone who knows more about that might comment.
