Hello Lorenzo,
Hello Vincenzo,
Hello Parsley team,
Hello users,

I already posted this issue in the EMF forum without any responses

I'm completely stuck since several days with an OSGI NoClassDefFoundError exception

I have RAP application using Parsley deployed with equinox.

I'm doing a custom contextual menu with emfMenus exactly like described in the documentation.

Here is my code for the GuiceModule

module com.merckgroup.bio4c.deviceshape.editor.signal extends ViewEmfParsleyGuiceModule {
	parts {

		viewpart com.merckgroup.bio4c.deviceshape.editor.view.signal{
			viewname "Signal Editor"
			viewclass SignalSaveableTreeFormView
		}
	}

	/*
         FIRST TEST WITH SAME ISSUE

            menuBuilder{
	 	emfMenus{

				Signal s -> #[
					actionChange("Add a reference", s,
							[
								signal |
								val ref = ReferencesFactory.eINSTANCE.createSignalReference
								ref.^label = "REF:"+s.name
							])
				]
			}
	 }*/

	bindings{
		type ViewerContentProvider -> SignalContentProvider
	 	type EditingMenuBuilder -> SignalMenuBuilder
	}

}

Here is my EditingMenuBuilder
public class SignalMenuBuilder extends EditingMenuBuilder {
	public List<IMenuContributionSpecification> emfMenuContributions(final Signal s) {
		DeviceShape deviceShapeLoaded = (DeviceShape) RWT.getUISession()
				.getAttribute(DeviceShapeConfigurations.DEVICE_SHAPE_LOADED);

//HERE I do not have the issue the ChangeRecorder is found by the class loader
	 ChangeRecorder changeRecorder = new ChangeRecorder();

		final IAcceptor<Signal> _function = (Signal signal) -> {

				   var ref = ReferencesFactory.eINSTANCE.createSignalReference
				 ref.setLabel("New Ref");
                                signal.getReference().add(ref);
				}
		};

		IMenuContributionSpecification _actionChange = this.<Signal>actionChange("Add a new reference", s, _function);
		return Collections.<IMenuContributionSpecification>unmodifiableList(
				CollectionLiterals.<IMenuContributionSpecification>newArrayList(_actionChange));
	}

When I'm right clicking on my tree and clicking on the action I do have the following stack trace :

 !ENTRY org.eclipse.rap.ui 4 0 2021-05-03 22:56:42.852

Has someone get an idea when I'm facing this issue ? Is this a problem with the packaging of org.eclipse.emf.edit or something like that ?
Did someone already faced this issue or can someone can guide me ?

Is there in the example project an example for menuBuilder to try if I have the same issue ?

Thanks a lot,
JB

Hi Jean-Baptiste

since you're in a RAP environment I guess your target platform uses "slicer" and not "planner" so dependencies must be explicit and are not handled transitively; if I understand correctly you have org.eclipse.emf.edit in your TP, but not org.eclipse.emf.ecore.change, right? Note that org.eclipse.emf.edit requires org.eclipse.emf.ecore.change as "optional" so I guess that's not in the TP if not inserted in the TP explicitly... that's just an idea.

cheers
Lorenzo

Hello Lorenzo,

Thanks for your answer.
I verified the include mode which is "slicer" (as it was made in the example). My dependencies are explicitly mentioned.

Here is my target platform :

So I have well the two bundles in the target platform.
When I was talking about transitivity, it was more in the class SignalMenuBuilder when I call directly the ChangeRecorder with
ChangeRecorder changeRecorder = new ChangeRecorder();
I do not have any exception. So it means the bundle is properly loaded in equinox and usable.

However when the ChangeRecorder is called by org.eclipse.emf.edit there I have the NoClassDefFoundError exception.
It is like if the emf.edit bundle does not have the right to use the ecore.change bundle !
I don't understand at all what's happening.

That's why I'm asking if there is a working example in the Mail example maybe, with an actionChange in order I compare it and fix this issue.

Thanks,
JB

I decided to report the code I made in the Parsley example provided with Eclipse and I pushed the code to github
The code is here : https://github.com/jbmeyer/parsley_example.

I create a SignalMenuBuilder.java here https://github.com/jbmeyer/parsley_example/blob/main/org.eclipse.emf.parsley.examples.rap.ui/src/org/eclipse/emf/parsley/examples/rap/ui/SignalMenuBuilder.java

I added the class in the GuiceModule
public Class<? extends EditingMenuBuilder> bindEditingMenuBuilder() {
		return SignalMenuBuilder.class;
	}

When I started the project the first time I faced the same issue, and now it's working.
I'm analyzing now the differences between my project and the example

I was able to make my project work restarting from the example project. I rewrote the the target platform and the .launch and it's working. Don't really understand what was making the project not working in my previous configuration. Will analyze when I'll make my new commit.

Thanks

Right! The good ol' launch configuration! I hadn't thought about that... did you validate the launch configuration before launching? Because probably the "ecore.change" bundle was not part of the launch configuration or some other requirements were not satisfied...
