As Xtend might not receive ongoing support in the future, I wonder what the best replacement for it would be. Plain Java? Scala? Kotlin?

I would really like to avoid having to write plain old java code again. I would especially like to use Kotlin.

Has anyone here have experiencing using Kotlin for the development of a DSL?
