Golang support in the future? [message #1837101] Fri, 22 January 2021 03:45 Go to next message

Goclipse is dead per https://github.com/GoClipse/goclipse, http://pureconcepture.blogspot.com/2017/07/goodbye-to-eclipse-end-of-era-for.html, which is very sad.

Just wondering: does Eclipse have plan for supporting golang in the future?

On https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/, I noticed Eclipse has rust lang support. However, Rust is ranked at 26 per https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/.

Golang is much more popular than Rust.

Will Eclipse have the support in the future?

Thanks.

"Eclipse" doesn't make plans like that. Eclipse just hosts projects and those projects make plans . So apparently someone or some group is more interested in Rust than in Golang and that person/group created a project for it. Such things depend on personal or group interest and are not driven by community popularity. And because it's all free, someone needs to be interested enough to invest time and energy into the project, and they might not want to do that for free forever...
