Are you using some combination of a third party theme and an old release of Eclipse? Check the "Colors and Fonts" preference page's "View and Editor Folders" options.

I did use a third party color theme but I changed to Default theme which did not fix the issue

I then uninstalled the theme but still the issue is not resolved.

Further I deleted the eclipse installation directory and reinstalled the same.

My eclipse version is
Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java Developers (includes Incubating components)

Version: 2020-12 (4.18.0)
Build id: 20201210-1552

I believe those preferences are tied to the workspace.

I switched to a freshly created new workspace but the issue is still present.

deleted eclipse installation folder and reinstalled and then created a fresh new workspace but no luck.

If you have two combo boxes on the Appearance preference page, as in the current release, what are both of their values?

Theme: Light
Color and font theme: Default (current)

I'm out of ideas. Is there an updated screenshot? Much of the original looked like the Dark theme.

I changed the theme to "Dark" and Fonts to "Classic Theme" and the problem is solved.

Thanks for your time.
