Hi,
For all the years since 2011, Object Teams was member of the Eclipse Simultaneous Release, which ensured that users only had to install the greatest and latest Eclipse and the "Install New Software..." dialog would readily propose Object Teams without the need to enter a specific download URL.
Since the shift to quarterly releases I realized that the cadence of the Eclipse Simultaneous Release no longer matches well with the Object Teams development, and so I decided to withdraw from the simultaneous release and create releases when significant improvements have been implemented rather than strictly every 3 months.
This implies that moving forward, Object Teams can only be installed via its own update site. I recommend to use our Market Place entry at https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/object-teams-development-tooling
This should always propose the latest version matching your Eclipse version. And here's a small rub: due to the tight integration with JDT you may still need an update of OTDT specific to your Eclipse version. But don't worry, I will continue to provide downloads for each Eclipse version, just not all of them are Object Teams release versions.
Ergo, if you install Eclipse 2020-09 (available in some hours), the market place entry should propose a matching milestone build (https://download.eclipse.org/objectteams/updates/ot2.8/202009051622).
One specific note on this fresh version: since Eclipse 2020-09 requires a JRE 11 or greater, so does the milestone build shown above.
happy updating
Stephan
