Sharing example forte on stm32f7 [message #1831211] Thu, 13 August 2020 15:55 Go to next message

Hey community. It was not really easy to get forte running on the stm32. Not really much information for a beginner like me. gitlab [dot] com/arpio/forte_stm32f7

A short description of the example:
Nucleo STM32F767ZI
Native (no CMSIS wrapper) FreeRTOS+TCP (No UDP/IGMP for now) 10.3.1
Forte 1.12.0
Running at 216MHz
400kB heap allocated
52kB used with a running Blinky example in Forte and Monitoring with live value watch in 4DIAC IDE

Is it possible that someone from the Dev team can check the patch in the repo and change it to the coding standards of 4diac and integrate it into forte? It would also be nice to have forte build as a subproject without touching the source. But everything is in the patch file.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I would be happy if we can improve the situation for freeRTOS. I had a quick look at your repo but for me it was not clear what should go into the officieal 4diac FORTE repo. Could you point that out.

In order that we can take patches from you we have to follow the Eclipse Foundation's IP policy. This sounds bader then it is. Jose wrote a very nice documentation on how you can easily contribute to 4diac FORTE [1].

Cheers,
Alois

Well, there is a forte.patch file in the Utils directory which can be applied to the clean forte 1.12.0 forte sources. This will add 5 new files and some additions in a couple other files to support the FreeRTOS+TCP stack. But there is no support for IGMP right now.

In the same patch there are some changes to the CMake files in forte to be able to build as a subproject. Without those changes the generated files by cmake scripts are in the wrong directories.

I'll check the documentation but I'm not a professional developer, all my knowledge is from stackoverflow, google and co.

Hi Alexander Rutz, I'm working on your shared example recently, but apparently I met some problem that I couldn't figure out.
It will be fairly nice if we can discuss through email, and this is my email address

Looking forward to your reply.
